Do you have a loved one behind bars? Keeping in touch and showing your support for them is a way to keep your loved one connected and in the loop about your life and the “outside” world.

However, both Seminole and Orange County jails have strict rules on how you can do this.
In the Seminole County Jail, the John E. Polk Correctional Facility, there are very strict rules regarding what an inmate can receive. As of 2018, an inmate can only receive mail and magazines as long as the magazines meet the “decency standards” of the jail.

All letters must be mailed to this address:

Once the mail is received, it is opened and scanned into the system. Your loved one can then view their mail via a kiosk. Legal mail and magazine subscriptions are to be sent directly to the jail at:

The legal mail must be identified as legal mail and is to be opened in front of the inmate. Magazines must come to the facility directly from the publisher.

Photos can be sent electronically to your loved one for a small fee. Photos are subject to approval by the staff.

In Orange County, there are similar procedures in place. All mail is opened by the staff and scanned into their “Smart Communications postal mail system.” Your loved one can then review their mail on a kiosk or tablet.

When sending mail to your loved one, you need to include their full name, booking number, and your return address. An example of how to address mail:
