College Campus Drugs
According to U.S. News and World Report, “Florida, Alabama, and South Carolina have accounted for some of the biggest increases in drug arrests on college campuses when measured by arrests per capita.” The most used drugs on campuses include: marijuana, prescription pills, Ecstasy, and alcohol. Our Orlando bail bonds team at 33rd Street Bail Bonds wants you to be aware that alcohol and drug abuse is occurring on college campuses. These abuses of drugs and alcohol are being noticed and colleges are cracking down by arresting students.
Besides being arrested for drug and alcohol abuse, college students also face the prospect of becoming addicted to drugs/alcohol while on campus. Why is this occurring? Stress, fear of failure, and to cope with everyday life are a few of the reasons that college students are turning more and more to drugs and alcohol.
33rd Street Bail Bonds offers these tips for coping with stress and life on a college campus:
•Sleep, sleep, and sleep. If you are sleep deprived then your judgement is off, you can’t think clearly, and it can cause depression (which can in turn make a student reach for a drink or pop a pill)
•Eat healthy. Yes, pizza is a main stay for college life but try adding a salad. Your body needs good food to keep you going. If you eat junk all of the time, your energy level will get low. A low energy level could have a student turning to caffeine pills or more to pep them up
•Exercise. This can help you re-focus and produce endorphins in your system. A much healthier way to be up instead of popping an upper
•Learn time management. Everyone has 24 hours in a day. Learn how to utilize those 24 hours to fit your schedule and don’t be afraid to say no
•Spend time with friends. Social interaction helps to relieve stress. Just don’t spent time drinking alcohol or doing drugs together
•Take care of yourself. No one else is there to take care of you but you. Do things that you like, get involved in a campus club, relax with a book, dance crazy to music, play an instrument, go play a sport, do whatever is your passion
•Surround yourself with positive influences. Be with people who make you laugh, think, and bring you joy. Negative people can influence you in a negative way
