Tips to avoid being arrested this Halloween.
33rd Street Bail Bonds wants you to stay safe and out of jail this Halloween.
Here is a sample of things to avoid on October 31st:
•Wearing a clown costume. Sounds foolish but with all of the clown scares across the nation, many cities have been putting a ban on clown costumes
•Egging a house or car, toilet papering a house, or writing graffiti on a home or car. You can be charged with vandalism for these harmless “pranks”
•Driving under the influence. Halloween parties are fun but driving after consuming alcohol is not
Our Orlando bail bondsmen at 33rd Street Bail Bonds wants you to have fun this Halloween while staying out of jail. Clown costumes have been banned in cities across the nation. In one county in Mississippi, it has been declared illegal to dress like a clown and the county will be fining people $150 if they are caught in a clown costume. Closer to home, police in Tampa are warning people to not dress as a clown this Halloween. Police are concerned that a person dressed as a clown might bother the wrong person and that person might retaliate in a violent way.
In Florida, vandalism and graffiti fall under the title of criminal mischief. Criminal mischief charges vary depending on the amount of damage caused. If the property damage is less than $200 then that is a 2nd degree misdemeanor which could result in up to 60 days in jail. If the damage is greater than $200 but less than $1,000 then it is a first degree misdemeanor that could result in up to a year in jail. If the property damage exceeds $1,000 then it is a third degree felony and could result in up to five years in prison.
Driving under the influence is a serious offense. Penalties vary depending on whether it was a first offense, multiple offense, if the person under the influence is under 21, and if there were any injuries or deaths caused by the driver. Penalties can range from suspension of driver’s license, having to attend a DUI program, fines, community service, jail time, vehicle impoundment, and an ignition interlock device installed on your vehicle.
