Want to send mail or a present to somebody who is behind bars?
Christmas is right around the corner and many people wonder what they can give as a present or what to send in the mail to a loved one who is in jail or prison. There are many restrictions on what an inmate can and cannot receive. Before sending any item, check the guidelines provided by the facility that the inmate is housed at. 33rd Street Bail Bonds offers these tips for sending presents or mail to inmates:
•Simply write them a letter. Prisoners are lonely and isolated and love to receive mail from loved ones
•Add money to their commissary account so that they can purchase extras
•Books are always welcome. There are restrictions such as the books must be paperback and must be sent directly by a vendor. Check the rules at your facility before sending
•Word search, crossword books, puzzle books, and Sudoku are always a welcome diversion
•A subscription to a magazine
•A calendar
•Send a care package via Florida’s food and property package program
This program offers two different vendors that you can choose from in order to purchase a package for your loved one. For more information about this program, visit: http://www.dc.state.fl.us/oth/inmates/package.html
Be aware that all mail and packages are opened and inspected. To address mail properly to an inmate that is housed in Orange County, Florida or at the 33rd Street Jail, please follow these guidelines:
•Include their full name
•Include their booking number and cell
•You must include your return address
