Tis The Season To Be Safe!
33rd Street Bail Bonds wishes you a very Happy Holiday! Unfortunately, thieves don’t care about your happiness, only their own. Burglars like to break into homes, especially during the Christmas season, and help themselves to all sorts of goodies.
Our Orlando bail bondsmen offer up these tips to keeping your home safe from burglars:
•Lock your doors and windows. Seems obvious but in the rush of getting out the door to attend a holiday gathering, this common-sense procedure often gets forgotten
•If you have an alarm system, then use it!
•Make sure that all of your presents aren’t visible from outside your home. Yes, a lit Christmas tree in the window is beautiful but having presents under the tree that are visible might be too tempting for a thief
•Be careful of people that come to your door asking for donations for different charities. They may be legitimate but you never know. Do not give them any personal information or donate money without checking that their credentials are legitimate
•Don’t post all of your Christmas plans on social media. Thieves use social media to find out when families will be traveling or attending holiday parties and use that time to break in and steal goodies
•Also, don’t post pictures of your new presents on social media. Thieves can visit your home after the holidays and steal your new gifts
•If you have a garage, put the door down before packing and unpacking your trunk. No need to advertise to everyone what presents you have bought or received
•Put your lights, television, radio on an automated timer system so that your home looks lived in. This can be done with home automation systems or with timers. A dark quiet home can be a welcome invitation for thieves
•Dispose of your boxes and packing materials responsibly. Consider taking the boxes to a pre-designated dumpster or cut up the boxes and hide the packaging in black trash bags. Thieves troll through trash to find out who received big ticket items such as TV’s, computers, laptops, and jewelry.
We hope you enjoy the holiday season and keep safety in mind.
