Halloween Horror Nights is starting this weekend!

According to the Universal Studios website, this event is billed as “the nation’s premier Halloween event”. The event offers haunted houses, scare zones, rides, attractions, and shows. While this can be a fun event for teens and adults alike, it can also turn into a “horror” adventure for those who abuse alcohol.

33rd Street Bail Bonds wants you to know that alcohol is meant to be consumed responsibly and not abused. We have had to bail people out of jail because they were arrested at Universal Studios for disorderly intoxication (public intoxication), underage drinking, resisting arrest, and battery. A majority of these charges are a direct result of alcohol. Know your limits and drink responsibly.

An example of incidents that have occurred at Universal that have resulted in arrests include:

•A parent giving a taste of an alcoholic drink to their underage child
•A person kicking and hitting one of the “scare performers”
•Creating a disturbance that affects other park guests due to the guest being intoxicated
Disorderly intoxication is defined as “occurring where an intoxicated person poses an endangerment to public safety or causes a public disturbance while impaired or drinking alcohol in a public place.”
This offense is a second degree misdemeanor with penalties that could include fines, jail time, and probation. Underage drinking or possession of alcohol by a minor is a second degree misdemeanor for a first offense. This charge could result in up to 60 days in jail, up to 6 months’ probation, and up to $500 in fines. The minor could also have their driver’s license revoked. The charges for resisting arrest vary depending on whether a person is charged with resisting arrest without violence or resisting arrest with violence. Charges range from a first degree misdemeanor with up to a year in jail, 12 months’ probation, and/or a fine of a $1,000 to a third degree felony with penalties that include jail time and fines. A battery charge could be a misdemeanor or felony depending on the crime. Penalties can include jail time, fines, and probation.
